Celebrate July 1 with us! Starting in Kolida Park, by the Railway Station at First and Main, downtown McBride 10 am–noon, the McBride library hosts games and fun for kids, and McBride paramedics put on a teddy bear clinic. The museum will be selling BBQ lunches at the pavilion in the park noon-1 pm. Lunch will be followed by O Canada, the annual Cheryl Sansom award, cupcakes and speeches in the park 1-2 pm. In Dunster, the Ice Cream Social begins at 7 pm, followed by dancing to live music by Roadside Splinter at 9. In McBride, the fire department plans fireworks around 10:30 pm, or when it gets dark enough. For more on events and other things to see and do in the valley, drop by the Visitor Centre in the Heritage Railway Station, open every day 9 am – 5 pm.
150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation 1867-2017
June is the month to see wild roses in the valley, and this year they have put on a spectacular show. They are easily visible from road or train, but their aroma adds to the experience if you have a chance to cycle or hike in the valley. Red paintbrushes and columbine are easily seen in fields and along roadways too. 
Even the exotic mountain lady slipper is sometimes found on roadsides here, while in parts of Alberta and BC it has been picked out of existence.

A winter’s work goes on show at the Robson Valley Piecemakers exhibition
Whether you are travelling through or live here, the valley has lots to offer, starting with a concert April 30, followed by more music, art and dangerous ideas in May. Click the calendar for times and details. Highlights include:

May 11 in Dunster, May 12 in McBride: Wishbone Productions presents Theatre of Dangerous Ideas: An Evening of Sketch Comedy and Music with piano, fiddle & guitar ($15 admission).
May 13 and 14 in Dunster: 8 X 8 Exhibition. Nearly 70 works of art, all sized at 8 inches by 8 inches, have been created Robson Valley residents. It is also a silent auction fundraiser for the community. Free admission.

Beautiful Mount Lucille overlooking McBride – just a snowmobile ride away!
Have you checked out the the RVMBA’s BLUFF TRAIL, a multi-use trail built for hiking, trail running, horseback riding, mountain biking, dog walking, snow shoeing, and ungroomed cross-country skiing? Approximately five kilometres in length, the Bluff Trail is named for the stunning rock bluffs situated on it. The trail is part of the McBride and Teare Mountain Bike Trail Network, a trail system planned for the community of McBride by professional trail builder Joel Pirnke. The trail head is found on the west end of the parking lot at kilometre one on Rainbow Road. Day-use equestrian riders can access the trails from a staging area at the Northeast corner of Koeneman Park, as Rainbow Road is not recommended for horse trailers. The Robson Valley Chapter of the Back Country Horsemen have installed hitching rails and a kiosk at this location.
The trail follows an existing skid road to a junction that will climb through a mixed forest of pine, cedar and fir before looping back. The trail is rated easy, but there is approximately 100m of elevation change through the middle section. Two viewpoints are located on the trail. The lower viewpoint is approximately one kilometre from the parking lot on the left hand branch at the junction. The top viewpoint is approximately half way around the loop, just below the highest point of elevation. Watch for blueberries, huckleberries, thimbleberries, hawks, and fresh hoof prints.
