Celebrate July 1 with us! Starting in Kolida Park, by the Railway Station at First and Main, downtown McBride 10 am–noon, the McBride library hosts games and fun for kids, and McBride paramedics put on a teddy bear clinic. The museum will be selling BBQ lunches at the pavilion in the park noon-1 pm. Lunch will be followed by O Canada, the annual Cheryl Sansom award, cupcakes and speeches in the park 1-2 pm. In Dunster, the Ice Cream Social begins at 7 pm, followed by dancing to live music by Roadside Splinter at 9. In McBride, the fire department plans fireworks around 10:30 pm, or when it gets dark enough. For more on events and other things to see and do in the valley, drop by the Visitor Centre in the Heritage Railway Station, open every day 9 am – 5 pm.
